Christian Nielsen is a classical pianist and piano technician based between Provo, Utah and Star, Idaho. He studied piano performance at Brigham Young University with Dr. Stephen Beus, and has appeared as concerto soloist with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1. He is the recipient of 1st Prize at the Musicians West Piano Competition, and a winner of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition and the Steinway Competition. His repertoire ranges from Bach through the 20th century. Christian also works as an accomplished piano technician, trading as Christian Nielsen Piano Services.

Christian Nielsen brings a musician’s ear and a craftsman’s standards to both the concert stage and the instrument itself. He studied piano performance at Brigham Young University with Dr. Stephen Beus, and has appeared as concerto soloist with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1. His competition record includes 1st Prize at the Musicians West Piano Competition, along with wins at the Meridian Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition and the Steinway Competition.
His recorded repertoire — documented on his YouTube channel — spans Baroque through 20th-century music, including works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Medtner, Barber, Vierne, and Stravinsky, in solo, chamber, and concerto settings.
Alongside his performing career, Christian is an accomplished piano technician, trading as Christian Nielsen Piano Services — tuning, repairing, and maintaining pianos for clients in Utah’s Provo–Salt Lake area during the school year, and in Idaho’s Treasure Valley during summer and winter break. His brand thesis, “Both sides of the lid,” reflects the throughline between the two: the same standard of craftsmanship applied on stage and inside the instrument.
